The Job

Organization, flexibility, excellent customer focus and strong communication are critical in performing duties which include, but are not limited to:

  • Manage the overall financial health of projects
  • Develop and maintain project financial projections and equipment projections
  • Allocate project estimate into financial system
  • Identify cost codes, approve invoices, and make necessary budget management decisions
  • Provide financials and billings to Accounting for timely payment
  • Create monthly owner billings
  • Maintain budget for and make selections of trade partners and suppliers
  • Handle billings and contract management, including contract buyouts
  • Provide job assignments and facilitate career development
  • Approve timecards for on-site team members
  • Provide ongoing feedback of work performance
  • Function as the main point of contact with the owner and on-site representative
  • Maintain schedule and budget until project completion
  • Provide high level management of quality, risk, safety, and compliance for the project and team members

The Job

DD+B is currently seeking an experienced Superintendent with the ability to effectively collaborate with a variety of team members at all levels in an ever-changing environment, remaining flexible, resourceful, proactive, and efficient with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality. We’re looking for a strong aptitude for critical thinking along with the capacity for creative problem-solving. The Superintendent will be responsible for providing coordination, planning, and supervision to assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities. Additionally, this role will be integral in developing and enhancing customer relationships by providing an exceptional level of service.

 

Organization, flexibility, outstanding customer focus and strong communication are critical in performing duties which include, but are not limited to:

  • Planning and implementation to ensure all materials, equipment, and inspections support the project schedule
    • Review and understand construction documents and contracts
    • Coordinate plans and specifications with design engineers, resolving discrepancies
    • Participate in the development and management of a project schedule
    • Develop a site logistics plan
    • Manage the utilization of DD+B tools and equipment
    • Collaborate with project partner superintendents

 

  • Coaching, supervisory, and development responsibilities
    • Conduct on-site project orientations
    • Conduct effective pre-construction planning sessions and project site meetings
    • Supervise project partners, craft foremen, and crews
    • Interview, hire, transfer, and if needed terminate craft team members
    • Ensure proper task coding of work hours on timecards
    • Manage and track work progress and craft productivity
    • Manage craft team member training, ensuring they are current prior to starting task
    • Conduct career development discussions with foremen and craft team members
    • Provide high-level management of safety, quality, risk and compliance for the project and team members
    • Recognize and mitigate unfavorable working conditions
    • Seek opportunities to improve processes and procedures

Strong communicationsskills are essential,as is your ability to remain adaptable,accountable andefficient.

What will you be doing?

Organization, flexibility, excellent customer focus, and strong communication are critical in performing duties which may include:Build project estimates, complete quantity take-offs and summations of materialsSolicit trade partners, obtain bid estimates and time projections for preparing vendor proposal comparisons and estimate summary sheetsHelp in preparing, organizing, and coordinating RFPdocuments and schedulesDetermine all pricing options and the appropriate price for the projectSupport lead estimator in data input into estimating software program(s)Solicit new bidders when needed, and collect necessary documents for inclusion in future projects

DD+B partnered with Miaymoto International to seismically upgrade the 2ndfloor and roof framing of the occupied Nathanial Trives Administrationbuilding at Crossroads School for Arts & Sciences in Santa Monica, California. We worked around the existing office furniture to minimize damage to the interior finishes whileadding steel-threaded rod connections to the existing perimeter walls,as well as a roof diaphragm system.

DD+B partnered with LOC Architects on a major upgrade to the rear paior of the Tenzing building at the Crossroads Chool for Arts & Sciences in Santa Monica, California. With students out on Spring Break, DD+B had a narrow window to complete the project. The existing rear outdoor space was demolished and replaced with a sloped-to-drain elevated concrete patio to provide space for students and faculty to gather for lunch. Additionally, DD+B installed an ADA ramp and stairs to meet existing requirements. All work was completed on time and in budget.
